DELORD ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1981 MAGNUM 150 cl

  • Ageing eau-de-vie from the 1981 harvest, bottled after several decades of ageing in the cellars
  • Cask aged in Gascon oak casks in the cellars of Armagnac Delord at Lannepax

The 1981 vintage from Armagnac Delord is a single-harvest eau-de-vie, distilled and then slowly aged in Gascon oak casks in the family cellars at Lannepax, in the Gers. On the nose, it reveals a refined elegance with aromas of warm spices (cinnamon, ginger) and blond tobacco. The palate rests on fine tannins, with notes of butter and spice that linger into a remarkably long finish. Bottled at 40% vol., this vintage Armagnac is presented here in a magnum of 150 cl, as fitting for leisurely tasting as for an exceptional gift.

The year 1981

Vintage grand

1981 will be remembered as the year François Mitterrand was elected President of the Republic, while across the Atlantic the music channel MTV was born. In Gascony, the vines yielded grapes of fine ripeness. These eaux-de-vie, aged for nearly half a century in Gascon oak casks, have reached their full expression, with notes of candied prunes, dark chocolate and gentle spices.

How it is made

Traditional vinification to obtain an aromatic wine, slightly acidic and low in alcohol. Continuous distillation in the Armagnac tradition: column stills fitted with "spider-leg" plates, ideal for the production of aged Armagnacs. Matured in new French oak casks (heavy toast), then finished in semi-exhausted or fully exhausted barrels.
