LAUBADE ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1998

  • Cask Gascon pedunculate oak, 420-litre casks
  • Grape varieties Baco, Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard

Drawn entirely from the 1998 harvest, this vintage was aged in the cellars of Château de Laubade, in Gascon pedunculate oak casks crafted on the estate. It was then bottled at the domaine, in Sorbets, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac. This 1998 vintage releases aromas of plum and candied fruit wrapped in a gentle woodiness. The palate is supple and rounded, with notes of toasted oak and vanilla.

The year 1998

Vintage good

1998 will be remembered as the year France won the FIFA World Cup, with Zinédine Zidane scoring twice in the final. In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of fine freshness and vibrant fruit character. Aged for more than a quarter of a century in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie offer an approachable, youthful profile, combining candied fruits with white blossom.
