DELORD ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1998 MAGNUM 150 CL

  • Ageing eau-de-vie from the 1998 harvest, bottled after several decades of ageing in the cellar
  • Cask aged in Gascon oak casks at the Armagnac Delord cellars in Lannepax

The 1998 vintage from Armagnac Delord is a single-harvest eau-de-vie, distilled and then aged at length in Gascon oak casks within the family cellars at Lannepax, in the Gers. The nose reveals caramelised and lightly woody aromas, clove, verbena, prune, date and a hint of fig. The palate is round and charming, rustic in the finest sense of the word, and leads into a long, spiced, lightly smoky finish. Bottled at 40% vol., this vintage Armagnac is presented here in a magnum of 150 cl, as fitting for leisurely tasting as it is for an exceptional gift.

Vintage good

1998 will be remembered as the year France won the FIFA World Cup, with Zinédine Zidane scoring twice in the final. In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of fine freshness and vibrant fruit character. Aged for more than a quarter of a century in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie offer an approachable, youthful profile, combining candied fruits with white blossom.

How it is made

Traditional vinification to obtain an aromatic wine, slightly acidic and low in alcohol. Continuous distillation in the Armagnac tradition: column stills fitted with "spider-leg" plates, ideally suited to the production of aged Armagnacs. Matured in new French oak casks (heavy char), then finished in "semi-exhausted" or "exhausted" barrels.
