DANIS ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1975 BRUT DE FÛT

  • Ageing Vintage 1975, cask strength

Born in 1975 in the cellars of Domaine de Danis, this Armagnac presents a bright, clear amber colour, the hallmark of a long slumber in oak. The nose opens on powerful notes of prune and rancio, that distinctive signature of aged Armagnacs from the Gers. On the palate, the entry is direct and well-balanced, carried by round, well-integrated tannins, before a finish of remarkable length and gentleness. Unreduced, it speaks to half a century of patience at the heart of Gascony: a rare find, best savoured slowly and without ceremony.

The year 1975

Vintage good

1975 was a year of cultural turning points, marked by the release of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and the end of the Vietnam War. In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of considerable depth. Aged for over half a century in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie now display a beautifully mature profile, with notes of candied fruit and gentle spice.

How it is made

Located in the Gers département on the edge of the Landes forest, the Danis estate vineyard covers 35 hectares planted with white grape varieties used in the production of Vins de Gascogne and Armagnacs. Vinified and distilled on the estate using a traditional Armagnac-style still. Aged in oak casks crafted by the village cooper, this is artisanal production at its finest.
