Castarède aged the 1997 harvest for twenty-three years in oak casks, then bottled it in 2020; the date appears on the back label. Twenty-nine years have passed since the harvest. A relatively young vintage, well suited to a first discovery of single-harvest Armagnac. The eau-de-vie is unblended and bottled at 40% vol. Castarède, founded in 1832, presents it in a 70 cl bottle with gift box, for the 29th birthday of someone born in 1997, or to keep a bottle from the year of a special encounter.

Each winter, the stills bring a comforting warmth to the heart of the cellars, and beneath beams blackened by a century of evaporation, the long work of maturation quietly unfolds.

For more than 180 years, first in the chais at Pont de Bordes on the banks of the Baïse, then at Château de Maniban, a Bas-Armagnac estate, the Castarède family has lovingly preserved a unique expertise in the service of Armagnac. Their commitment and passion for Armagnac have never wavered, and the water of immortality has kept the spirit of their eternal youth very much alive.
