MILLET ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1998 POT GASCON 250 cl

  • Ageing Vintage 1998, single-harvest eau-de-vie, aged in oak casks on the estate
  • Cask French oak casks, aged in the cellars of Château de Millet until bottling
  • Grape varieties Baco and Ugni Blanc
  • Awards Gold Medal, Concours Général Agricole Paris 2019

This Bas-Armagnac vintage 1998 from Château de Millet, in a 250 cl pot gascon, is a single-harvest eau-de-vie, vinified and distilled on the estate by the Dèche family, who have been owner-producers in Eauze for five generations. The house's 2026 catalogue describes it as follows: an elegant nose with an initial note of freshness followed by vanilla; on the palate, aromas of dried fruits giving way to more subtle notes of candied fruit; a flavoursome, lingering finish. The house recommends it as an ideal introduction to Armagnac for the uninitiated. The vineyard is farmed according to sustainable practices and holds Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3 certification. Each vintage is available in 20 cl, 50 cl, 70 cl, magnum and 2.5 l pot gascon, with a wooden gift box as an option.

The year 1998

Vintage good

1998 will be remembered as the year France won the FIFA World Cup, with Zinédine Zidane scoring twice in the final. In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of fine freshness and vibrant fruit character. Aged for more than a quarter of a century in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie offer an approachable, youthful profile, combining candied fruits with white blossom.

How it is made

Vinified and distilled on the estate using a traditional Armagnac-style still, then aged in oak casks. An artisan production of genuine quality. For five generations, the Dèche family, as owner-growers, have been distilling Armagnac from their own vines, a spirit regularly praised by specialist press both in France and abroad.

The vineyard stands on the verdant hills to the north-west of Eauze, the capital of Armagnac, where sandy-clay soils alternate with sandy soils known as "sables fauves". This distinctive terroir within the Bas-Armagnac zone is renowned for producing delicate, fruit-driven eaux-de-vie.
