Sempé Armagnac Vintage 1973

At Sempé, each vintage adds to a collection begun in 1934 in Aignan. This bottle bears the 1973 harvest, a simple marker for a birth, a birthday or a wedding from that year. The cellar masters look for the triptych dear to Abel Sempé: aroma, roundness, length. The Bas-Armagnac is bottled at 40% vol. in a 70 cl Milady bottle, supplied in a gift box: a ready-to-give present for anyone born in 1973.

The Year 1973

Vintage good

1973 was marked by the first oil crisis and the signing of the Paris Peace Accords, which ended American involvement in Vietnam. Despite this turbulent global context, Gascony produced a robust and wide-ranging vintage. Aged for more than half a century in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie display intense aromas of prunes, liquorice and roasted coffee.
