LAUBADE ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1980
- Cask Pedunculate oak from Gascony, 420-litre casks
- Awards Gold Medal, San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2010; 91/100, Gold Medal, World Spirits Awards (Austria) 2010
On its Millésime Célébration sheet, the house lists two gold medals won in 2010 by this 1980 vintage: at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and at the World Spirits Awards in Austria (91/100). The estate's own description notes an amber colour, an intense and powerful nose, woody, with an acidulated and fruity rancio, then a smooth palate of roasted almond and plum. The eau-de-vie comes from a single harvest at Sorbets, aged in Gascony oak before bottling at the château. 70 cl, 40% vol., a fine choice for a birth year or wedding anniversary.
