LAUBADE ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1979

  • Cask Gascony pedunculate oak, 420-litre casks

At Château de Laubade, each vintage is aged separately, cask by cask, in one of the nine ageing cellars on the estate. For the 1979, the house describes a bright colour, an elegant nose of violet and prune, then a round and smooth palate of fine harmony. This is a style built entirely on delicacy, best served at room temperature in a tulip glass, at the end of a meal. The eau-de-vie, from a single harvest, was bottled at the château, in 70 cl at 40% vol. A fitting gift for those born in 1979.

The year 1979

Vintage grand

1979 was a year of upheaval that foreshadowed the decade to come, marked by Margaret Thatcher's rise to power and the Iranian Revolution. In Gascony, the vines yielded an elegant and well-balanced vintage. After nearly half a century of ageing in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie have developed a fine harmony of vanilla, dried fruits and gentle spices.
