Harvest 1992, in Bas-Armagnac. The Guasch family distils using a short-column copper alembic still, nearly a century old, then ages each vintage separately in oak casks at Château de Bordeneuve, in Castelnau d'Auzan. The estate holds vintages dating back to 1893.

The 1992 vintage

The 1992 vintage seduces with its deep amber colour and golden highlights. The nose unfolds aromas of dried fruits, apricot, quince and prune, with notes of tobacco and leather that carry through on the palate in perfect harmony with the nose, a mark of the fine balance acquired over years of ageing.

Baron de Sigognac is produced at Château de Bordeneuve, on the sandy-tawny soils around Eauze, the capital of Bas-Armagnac, by the Guasch family, who have been established in Gascony since the twelfth century.
