BARON DE SIGOGNAC ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1989

  • Cask Oak
  • Grape varieties Ugni Blanc, Baco

1989 marks the Bicentennial of the French Revolution in Paris, followed in November by the fall of the Berlin Wall. In Gascony, that year's harvest was laid down in cask at Château de Bordeneuve. Thirty-seven years on, this Baron de Sigognac offers a fine opportunity to revisit a pivotal year, over coffee. The tasting note provided by the house is reproduced below. A 70 cl bottle at 40% vol., filled to order, presented in a wooden box.

In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of fine freshness. Aged for nearly four decades in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie retain a lovely vitality, with notes of candied fruit, vanilla and gentle spice.
