MILLET ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1978 POT GASCON 250 cl

  • Ageing Vintage 1978, single-harvest eau-de-vie, aged in oak casks on the estate
  • Cask French oak casks, aged in the cellars of Château de Millet until bottling
  • Grape varieties Baco and Ugni Blanc

This vintage 1978 Bas-Armagnac from Château de Millet, presented in a 250 cl pot gascon, is an eau-de-vie from a single harvest year, vinified and distilled on the estate by the Dèche family, who have been grower-producers in Eauze for five generations. This vintage appears on the domaine's 2026 price list, though the house does not publish tasting notes for this particular year: we will not invent any. It shares the expertise of the commented vintages, reduced to 42% vol. and aged in oak casks. The vineyard is managed using sustainable farming practices, certified Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3. Each vintage is available in 20 cl, 50 cl, 70 cl, magnum and 2.5 l pot gascon, with a wooden gift box as an option.

Vintage grand

1978 was marked by the election of John Paul II, the first non-Italian pope in more than four centuries, in a year also defined by the FIFA World Cup in Argentina. In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of fine concentration and great maturity. Aged for nearly half a century, these eaux-de-vie offer a deep profile of roasted prunes and dark chocolate.

How it is made

A craft production of genuine quality. For five generations, the Dèche family, as owner-growers, has distilled Armagnac from their own vines, earning regular acclaim from the specialist press both in France and abroad.

The vineyard sits on the verdant hills to the north-west of Eauze, the capital of Armagnac, where sandy-clay soils alternate with sandy soils known as «sables fauves». This distinctive terroir within the Bas-Armagnac zone is renowned for producing eaux-de-vie of particular delicacy and fruitiness.
