Dartigalongue Armagnac Vintage 1981

  • Ageing Vintage 1981, a single harvest

The 1981 is a vintage that Dartigalongue holds in particular esteem: the house has also bottled it as a Single Cask, from a single barrel. This version, drawn from the vintage collection, is more approachable. Its distinctive nose combines exotic woods, rosemary and dried fruits. On the palate, a lovely acidity brings freshness; the finish turns patisserie-like, with candied fruits and a pleasing smoothness. Aged in oak casks at Nogaro, it is presented in a 70 cl bottle with a gift box, perfect for an anniversary or a wedding celebration from 1981.

1981 will be remembered as the year François Mitterrand was elected President of the Republic, while across the Atlantic the music channel MTV was born. In Gascony, the vines yielded grapes of fine ripeness. These eaux-de-vie, aged for nearly half a century in Gascon oak casks, have reached their full expression, with notes of candied prunes, dark chocolate and gentle spices.

The eaux-de-vie are produced from three complementary grape varieties:…
