Dartigalongue Armagnac Single Cask 1981
- Ageing 1981 vintage, cask no. 487, more than 40 years in Gascon oak
- Cask Single cask selected by the cellar master, strength chosen to suit the vintage, numbered bottles
For its Single Cask releases, Dartigalongue selects a single cask from its cellars at a precise point in its ageing, with the cellar master choosing the strength that best reveals the character of the vintage. Here, cask no. 487 from the 1981 harvest, bottled at 45% vol. across 456 numbered bottles. The nose is highly intense, with ripe fruits, spices and orange blossom. The palate lives up to the promise: dried fruits, walnuts, the aromas typical of fine rancios, wrapped in generous tannins. The house sees in this the culmination of more than forty years in Gascon oak.
