LAUBADE ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1978

  • Cask Gascon pedunculate oak, 420-litre casks
  • Grape varieties Baco, Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard

Drawn entirely from the 1978 harvest alone, this vintage was aged in the cellars of Château de Laubade, in Gascon pedunculate oak casks crafted on the estate. It is then bottled at the domaine, in Sorbets, at the heart of Bas-Armagnac. Aromas of dried fruits, almonds and figs, with a gentle woody-vanilla note, linger on a supple, rounded palate with a fine, long finish.

The year 1978

Vintage grand

1978 was marked by the election of John Paul II, the first non-Italian pope in more than four centuries, in a year also defined by the FIFA World Cup in Argentina. In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of fine concentration and great maturity. Aged for nearly half a century, these eaux-de-vie offer a deep profile of roasted prunes and dark chocolate.
