BARON DE SIGOGNAC ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1978
- Cask Limousin oak
- Grape varieties Ugni Blanc or Baco
- Terroir Bas-Armagnac, tawny sands
- Distillation continuous Armagnac-type still
This 1978 eau-de-vie was aged at Château de Bordeneuve, in the Bas-Armagnac, on a soil of tawny sands. Made from Ugni Blanc or Baco, it was distilled in a continuous Armagnac-type still, then aged in Limousin oak casks. Production remains very small, in the order of fifty casks a year according to the house, and each year is aged separately. Forty-eight years have passed since the harvest. An armagnac of this age lends itself to tasting in two stages: first the nose, with the glass held still, then a small sip kept in the mouth for a few seconds. 70 cl Cognac-type bottle, filled to order, with the bottling date on the back.
Serve with best enjoyed as a digestif
