The Sigognac vintages form an exceptional collection of rare eaux-de-vie, refined on the palate and intense in aroma. Every bottle is prepared to order only, allowing the vintage to develop right up to the last moment. The bottling date is indicated on the back label of each bottle.

Harvest 1978, in Bas-Armagnac. The Guasch family distils in a short-column copper pot still of the traditional Armagnac type, nearly a century old, then ages each vintage separately in oak casks at Château de Bordeneuve, in Castelnau d'Auzan. The estate holds vintages dating back to 1893.

1978 was marked by the election of John Paul II, the first non-Italian pope in more than four centuries, in a year also defined by the FIFA World Cup in Argentina. In Gascony, the vines yielded a vintage of fine concentration and great maturity. Aged for nearly half a century, these eaux-de-vie offer a deep profile of roasted prunes and dark chocolate.
Baron de Sigognac is produced at Château de Bordeneuve, on the sandy-tawny soils around Eauze, the capital of Bas-Armagnac, by the Guasch family, who have been established in Gascony since the twelfth century.
