Le Vénérable is a blend aged for a minimum of 18 years in the Roger Groult cellars, the result of a perpetual assemblage that always preserves a share of older eaux-de-vie. Its bright, tawny robe heralds a deep nose of baked apple, warm spices and dried fruits, with lightly roasted undertones. On the palate, the spirit is rich and enveloping, with a touch of smoke and notes of pear that linger long into the finish. Named 'World's Best Calvados' in London in 2019, this Calvados embodies the maturity and elegance of a family craft passed down through five generations. A fine digestif, best savoured slowly.

How it is made

The Vénérable is truly the signature expression of the house. A blend of old eaux-de-vie aged over 18 years, defined above all by its finesse, balance and remarkable aromatic persistence.

The traditions live on: today it is Jean-Roger, the fifth generation, who, having preserved double distillation over a wood fire and other time-honoured methods, takes great pleasure in presenting these exceptional cuvées of Calvados Pays d'Auge.
