GASTON DE CASTELJAC COGNAC VSOP

  • Ageing 4 years in oak casks before bottling
  • Cask Oak casks, selected small barrels
  • Awards Silver medal at the Beverage Testing Institute, Chicago

This VSOP from Gaston de Casteljac originates from Grande Champagne, the most prestigious cru within the Cognac appellation. It has rested four years in oak casks, following an ageing method closely related to that used for the eaux-de-vie of Gascony: small barrels, constant attention and natural oxygenation. Its golden-yellow colour introduces a fresh nose in which ginger mingles with cinnamon and subtle hints of dried fruit. On the palate, the aromas unfold with pleasing complexity, reflecting the care taken in slow, unfiltered distillation. A distinction awarded in Chicago in 2006 confirms the consistency of this artisan house. At 40%, an elegant Cognac to be savoured slowly and without fuss.
