JEAN CAVÉ BAS-ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1914
- Ageing Vintage: eau-de-vie from the 1914 harvest alone, unblended
- Cask Oak casks, cellars of the house at Lannepax (Gers)
War broke out in early August 1914, and the harvest that followed was gathered in a France at full mobilisation. From that Gers crop, Jean Cavé drew an eau-de-vie that has been kept entirely on its own, never blended with any other. To preserve its oldest vintages, the house monitors the temperature and humidity of its cellars closely, and handles its glass demijohns with great care. A bottle steeped in memory, for a family anniversary, the passing on of a piece of history, or a tribute, to be savoured in quiet contemplation.
