MILLET ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1976 POT GASCON 250 cl

  • Ageing Vintage 1976, eau-de-vie from a single harvest, aged in oak casks at the estate
  • Cask French oak casks, aged in the cellars of Château de Millet until bottling
  • Grape varieties Baco and Ugni Blanc
  • Awards Gilbert & Gaillard 2008, 94/100; Silver Medal, Concours National des Caves Particulières 2007

The pot gascon is the region's historic format, round and generous, as much a display piece as a serving bottle. This one holds the sole 1976 harvest from the estate, a year of severe drought across France. Its nose of prunes, figs and assorted spices, followed by a richly spiced finish, earned it 94/100 in the Gilbert & Gaillard 2008 guide. The wax seal protects the eau-de-vie, and the bottling date on the label tells its true age. The 250 cl pot gascon is bottled at 42% vol., wooden gift box included.

Set on the sandy-clay hills to the north-west of Eauze, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Château de Millet has been tended by the Dèche family for five generations. Across its eighty hectares of the celebrated sables fauves, the estate favours the Baco grape variety, prized for the roundness and softness it expresses on this terro…
