BARON DE SIGOGNAC ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 1941
- Cask oak from the Limousin forest
- Grape varieties Ugni Blanc or Baco
- Terroir tawny sands
- Distillation Armagnac-type continuous still
In 1941, Gascony harvested in the middle of the war, with few hands and many restrictions. The eau-de-vie in this bottle comes from that harvest: Ugni Blanc or Baco grown in tawny sands, distilled in an Armagnac-type continuous still. It aged in Limousin oak casks, then joined the collection of the Château de Bordeneuve, where Baron de Sigognac keeps each vintage separate. It turns eighty-five in 2026. The house has provided a tasting note, reproduced below. The 70 cl Cognac-style bottle, at 40% vol., is filled to order; its bottling date appears on the back. Presented in a wooden box.
