It spent 47 years in oak casks before being bottled in 2020, and is bottled at 40% vol. Best enjoyed as a digestif, to celebrate a birth, a wedding or an anniversary from 1973. 1973 was marked by the first oil crisis and the signing of the Paris Peace Accords, which ended American involvement in Vietnam. Despite this turbulent global context, Gascony produced a robust and wide-ranging vintage. Aged for more than half a century in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie display intense aromas of prunes, liquorice and roasted coffee.
Founded in 1832, Castarède is one of the oldest Armagnac négociant houses, and remains entirely independent and family-owned.
