PELLEHAUT ARMAGNAC VINTAGE 2000 BRUT DE FÛT

  • Cask 400-litre casks, coarse-grained oak from the estate and from Limousin
  • Grape varieties Folle Blanche
  • Awards Gold Medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2022

The 2000 vintage retains a straw yellow colour, a sign of a Folle Blanche that is still relatively young. On the nose, toasted notes gradually give way to spices and cinnamon. The entry is supple, then the palate quickly comes alive with fresh gingerbread. The domaine reports a gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2022 and another at the Talents de l'Armagnac, 2017 edition. The most recent Folle Blanche releases from Pellehaut are aged in part in barrels that previously held its white wines. Cask strength, 50% vol.

The year 2000

Vintage good

2000 was the first vintage of the twenty-first century, a year marked by France's victory at Euro 2000. In Gascony, the vines yielded a fruity and expressive vintage. Aged for a quarter of a century in Gascon oak casks, these eaux-de-vie now present a youthful, lively profile, with fresh fruit, floral notes and a touch of vanilla.

Château de Pellehaut stands in Montréal-du-Gers, on the hillsides of the Ténarèze, where clay-limestone soils take over from the sands of the Bas-Armagnac. The Béraut family has been rooted here for four centuries; it was Gaston Béraut who revived distillation in the 1950s before passing the estate to his sons Martin and Mathie…
