A round number: distilled in 1970, this eau-de-vie spent exactly fifty years in oak casks at Castarède before being bottled in 2020. In 2026, the vintage is fifty-six years old. The house has devoted a detailed tasting note to it, reproduced below. Castarède, founded in 1832, ages its vintages first in new casks for structure, then in older casks for roundness. A 70 cl bottle at 40% vol., presented in a gift box: for the 56th birthday of someone born in 1970.
